Healthy Made Simple

Making the choice to live a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be a life sentence. Let’s make it simple.

You shouldn’t feel intimidated when making the decision to live a healthier lifestyle. You shouldn’t feel like you can never eat ice cream again, or stay up late. The media puts so much pressure on looking good and being healthy. Adopting a healthy lifestyle is important, but there are ways to make it easier than you may think. By focusing on these small tips you can make big improvements in your health.

Stay Hydrated

There are many health problems that can be solved just by keeping your body hydrated. You should drink half your body weight in ounces daily. When your body isn’t properly hydrated it can’t function properly. Feeling thirsty is the most obvious sign of dehydration. If you’re feeling thirsty your body is already dehydrated. Other signs of dehydration are dry mouth, dark urine color, dry skin, headaches, and muscle cramps. If you’re suffering from chronic dehydration you may experience more severe symptoms like muscle fatigue, dizziness, and extreme thirst. A good reminder to make sure you’re drinking enough water is to drink a large glass before every meal and keep a bottle with you.

Move Your Body

You don’t have to have an hour long, high intensity workout everyday to keep yourself healthy, but it is important to make sure you’re moving your body every day. This can be going for a walk around the block after dinner, riding a bike for a half hour, stretching or doing yoga, going for a run. There are so many ways that you can get your body moving, you don’t have to feel limited to restricted to working out at a gym. Find an activity that you love to allow you to look forward to getting moving.

Eat Colorful

Eating colorful foods means that for each meal you are eating mostly fruits and vegetables. Proteins and carbohydrates are important but they should not be the bulk of your meal. Try cooking from home so you know exactly what is in all of your food, and eat mostly foods that come from plants, this means limited dairy products and red meats, and eating foods that aren’t processed.  These foods are full of essential vitamins and minerals.
